The Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales Third Edition is the leading instrument for supporting the diagnosis of intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Vineland 3 aids in a diagnosis, but also provides valuable information for developing appropriate educational and treatment plans. This is a standardized testing tool which uses semi-structured interviews to measure adaptive behaviors and support the diagnosis of Intellectual Disabilities and developmental disabilities, autism, and developmental delays.
The assessment looks at significantly subaverage intellectual functioning, existing concurrently with related limitations in two or more of the following adaptive skill areas:
- Communication
- Self-care
- Home living
- Social skills
- Community use
- Self direction
- Health and safety
- Functional academics
- Leisure activity
